As Ms.
Samantha approached her 6 week birthday, we felt it only appropriate to take
her on her first dive vacation. So the week between Christmas and New
Year, we rented a mini-van and headed down to central Florida to dive the
caves. Sara hadn't been in the water since February and couldn't wait
to dive. We spent most of the week diving Peacock, Orange Grove,
Telford and Little River. While we couldn't dive together, we had a
fantastic time.
The second day we were there we ran into some divers form the Virginia Beach area - JT and Tom - and one of their friends from North Carolina, Chip. We ended up spending a couple of days with them - diving Orange Grove, Peacock and Telford. We had a great time with them and hope to dive with them again soon. You can see more pictures of the sites and divers on JT's site at http://www.capt-jt.com/photos.htm. After one of Scott's dives at Little River, we decided to let Samantha experience the Florida springs. So we put her in her pink pineapple swimsuit and took her down to the water. We didn't get more than the tip of her toe in the 72 degree water but it was a start! The last day we were there, Sara buddied with two divers from north Georgia - TJ and and Mark from Redneck Scuba - for an awesome dive at Orange Grove.
All-in-all, it was an incredible vacation. Samantha proved to be a
great traveler and Scott and Sara had a great time in the water. We
can't wait to do it again! |
